Car Wash Certification

Friday, February 25th, 2011

Many states are implementing a certification which will require car washes to meet certain criteria to become certified as a car wash that takes extra measures to conserve water. This will help customers choose a more water conservative friendly car wash. In order to receive this certification car washing facilities must meet certain requirements set forth by the state. These requirements differ based on what type of car wash system is in use by the facility.

For self-serve car washes it is required that each nozzle can’t exceed a flow of three gallons per minute. If you have a reverse-osmosis system, there needs to be a way to turn off the spot-free rinse option or a way in which the water can be recycled. You must also have a weep-management system installed in your facility.

For facilities that have an in-bay automatic or conveyor system, there must be a reclaim system with filtration device installed in order to receive the certification. If there isn’t a reclaim system installed, the car wash is then required to reduce the amount of water used to wash each car by 30 percent. To reduce the amount of water used for in-bay facilities it is suggested that nozzles that reduce the water pressure be installed, increase the cycle-time speed and only allow one soap pass per vehicle. To reduce water use in a conveyor system it is suggested that a nozzle be installed to reduce the water pressure, increase the conveyor speed, shorten the cycle times and adjust sensor settings. For both types of systems, discontinuing the spot-free rinse option will also reduce the amount of water used per car.

By obtaining a car wash certification from the state, you will be able to promote that your car wash has adhered to all requirements by the state in order to reduce the amount of water that is used by your facility. This will allow you to include this certification on all your flyers or ads that you use to advertise your company. By becoming certified you may also draw in a new client base that is interested in conserving water in any way possible.

If the certification process is something that you feel will benefit your facility, contact your local water department to see if there are any other changes that you may need to make in order to obtain the certification from your state.

Blackberry Car Charger

Friday, February 25th, 2011

We’re all guilty of it-you’re driving on the road and all of a sudden there’s a traffic jam at a normally uncluttered intersection. Grumbling, you glance ahead and see a car pulled over to the side. As you approach, you stare at the unlucky guy struggling under the hood of his car, not realizing that you’ve been pressing on the brake just so you could observe his misery. In fact, everyone else has been doing the same thing, and as soon as they’ve had their ego-boost of the day, they drive on and the traffic magically disappears.

Okay, so what’s the point? Don’t be that unlucky guy (and don’t be that rubbernecker either). He could have called a car mechanics savvy friend to help him out in his time of need, but his Blackberry wasn’t charged so he had no choice but to fend for himself. He really could have benefited from having a Blackberry car charger handy, but he only had a home charger that was incompatible with his car and sitting at home anyway. Most people do, since all Blackberries come with a home charger included in the package. Unfortunately, many people like Unlucky Guy don’t spring for the extra Blackberry car charger accessory for whatever reason. Maybe they don’t want to spend the extra money, or maybe they think that a simple home charger will suffice. Or maybe they don’t think that they’ll ever be stuck without a connection to the outside world. However, this situation may happen more often than you’d think. Think of how many times you’ve rubbernecked to the sight of unfortunate drivers seemingly stranded on the roadside. Don’t think that it can’t happen to you; you never know what lies further down the road.

So after you purchase your Blackberry, make sure to purchase the Blackberry car charger as well. You can find a suitable Blackberry car charger at any major Blackberry carrier retailers near you, or on their websites. Sure, it’ll cost more, but if a simple car charger is the difference between safety and a potentially dire situation, then the sensible choice would be to spend the extra money. It can be risky to blindly trust that your Blackberry will always be operational when you need it most. Safety doesn’t have to be a matter of luck-you can help ensure your safety by making sure your Blackberry is fully charged while you’re out and about.
