Topping out ceremony for Particle Therapy Centre

A crowd of over 300 guests attended the topping-out ceremony of the Particle Therapy Centre in Kiel last month, the largest PPP project developed for the German public health sector. Among those present were President Peter Harry Carstensen, Prime Minister of the State of Schleswig-Holstein, Torsten Albig, the Lord Mayor of Kiel, and key project representatives.

Bilfinger Berger Project Investments is realising the project together with consortium partner Siemens. Construction of the clinic building, which extends 11 meters below ground level and whose walls are up to 4.8 meters thick, will be carried out by Bilfinger Berger Hochbau; the interiors will be fulfilled by Bilfinger Berger's R&M Ausbau. After completion, HSG Zander, another Bilfinger Berger subsidiary, will assume the technical and custodial facility management for the 25 year concession period. The first patients are scheduled for treatment in 2012.
